Bentleigh House

When we were first contacted, the clients were unhappy with the curtains and tracks installed by a previous supplier. They had been advised against using more muted tones, with the concern that these colours would make the rooms feel smaller.

We re-designed the entire north-facing family room, where managing light and heat was an important consideration given the amount of direct sunlight the room receives, particularly during summer.

During our design consultation, we encouraged the clients to embrace muted tones, creating a softer and more sophisticated palette rather than avoiding muted or quieter colours. The final curtain design was carefully considered to provide the required light and heat control while adding warmth, depth and a refined feel to the room.

Blockout roller blinds were installed to manage the direct afternoon sun, providing privacy and helping with heat control throughout the day. Wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling curtains in 100% linen were then layered over the blinds, adding softness, texture and a relaxed sense of sophistication to the family room.
